Board Minutes
The November Board Meeting of the SOSC was called to order at 9:35 am on November 5, 2009 with President Dana Mihaly presiding. Honorary President Mrs. Barbara Mannon was present. Also present were Rebecca Caldon, Laura Von Loh, Jody Groves, Leslie Beahm, Erica Connor, Julie Nieves, Deborah Graham, Debbie Rice, Jennifer Menker, Tracy Yankovich, Jen Koehl, Sheri Lewin, Jessica Bess, Allison Hoskins and Audrey Pounds.

· Leslie has budget amendment forms, if you need more money in your budget for the remainder of the year (through May) budget amendments must be submitted by January.

· Printed 100 Magnetic SOSC Social Calendars and distributed them at the October Social
· October Social we welcomed five new members
RESERVATIONS
· There were six people unable to attend October's Social Event that had responded. Three persons must have attended that had not responded. The money has been paid in full to the club and I will collect from those that were not able to attend at the December Social. The money will be directly reimbursed to me as I paid the difference.
· Many thanks again to those who filled-in during my absence due to illness.
· Childcare will be at the Youth Center School Age Annex for the December Social

· Book Club met at the Wind Creek Community Center October 19 to discuss The Lost Symbol. Book Club meets this month November 17 at 7:00 pm at Cheryl’s house.
· Bunko met at the Thrift Shop October 26. Bunko meets this month, Monday November 23 at 7:00pm at Jill’s house.
· Lunch Bunch met at Gidget’s Sandwich Shack. Lunch Bunch hopefully will meet this month November 18. More information to follow.

WELFARE TREASURER

SCHOLARSHIP
· Some questions arose regarding eligibility of students for SOSC Scholarships. Parent of student must be stationed at Sheppard or on remote. No student is eligible for scholarships from two bases. Retiree’s children must have retired out of Sheppard and be a local resident. Air Force Widower’s children are also eligible for SOSC Scholarships.
· One scholarship is still out student will have until the end of the year and then the money will roll into this year’s funds.
THRIFT SHOP
· See attached financial report.
· Shop needs volunteers.
· Hangar Holiday baked goods can be dropped off at the Thrift Shop.
HANGAR HOLIDAY
· The Hangar Holiday Bazaar is less than two (2) weeks away as of the writing of this report.
· Petra Smith has done an awesome job getting publicity for the event. Television commercials started Tuesday, 03 November, and will run through Saturday, 14 November 2009.
· Newspaper ads began on Wednesday, 04 November with the “What’s Cooking” section, and again on Wednesday, 11 November.
· The Times Record News, page 3, on 13 November 2009.
· Ads will run in the “Crave Big Box” November 1st through the 15th.
· A news release has previously run in the local papers.
· There will be interview opportunities also.
· Sheri Lewin and Deb Rice have been working feverishly to get all the meals for the volunteers donated. They have been quite successful in getting almost all donated. Fantastic!
· Debbie Graham is heading up our Gift-Wrapping Table. As of right now, Debbie will not be present during the bazaar, but she is working to make sure that the table is completely manned at all times.
· Jody Groves and Gaby Lockhart have Hospitality under control.
· Our vendor waiting list continues to grow. We have approximately 70 on the list.
· I had previously been told that we would have to pay for the electrical hook-ups, but after inquiring we will not be charged this year.
· Geia Barrett is taking care of the facility needs.
· Everything is coming together. On Friday, 13 November, help will be appreciated by anyone who is available after 10 am.
· The airman choir is singing Saturday 2-3 pm. They may sing on Sunday as well but no time is set.
· On Friday the hangar opens at 6 am and at 8 am the vendors can enter.

Next Board Meeting is December 3, 2009 at 10:30 am at the Sheppard Club
